TV Drama Evaluation

TV Drama Evaluation

The purpose of a TV Drama is to entertain the public through story lines made for a certain genre such as American Horror Story for horror, Sex and the City for more of a female audience and Luthor for a male audience. However most dramas tend to focus on what we think are lives are like however more dramatic like Eastenders, Hollyoaks and Coronation Street where the characters are supposed to represent society in single characters in society such as homosexuals, single parents and teenagers as stereotypes which apparently reflects their own lives.

Our original idea was to have a young teenage zombie search for her younger sibling after her family are murdered by regular humans and teams up with another young zombie and a human outcast all search for the little zombie. Unfortunately we could not film this idea due to all the actors we had chosen not being available to film at the times we needed them as well as the crew not having the time to film at certain locations, we overcame this by creating a new idea but with some of the old elements in it so not to make all the pre-production work seem pointless. Our new idea was a mix of zombies like from the drama In the Flesh and teen drama like My Mad Fat Diary and combining them to make Fear the Cure, a teen drama with horror elements in to mix it up.

We each received about two tasks each, I was in charge of doing the mind map and the storyboard and we all took turns and filming and editing the TV Drama, some set backs were the fact that we had to redo our idea which meant finding new actors and planning to film at different locations which meant we were set back due to that. Beth did the script and equipment list, Sarah Beth did the production schedule, roles and responsibilities and Dan did the talent report and risk assessment, we all worked competently as a team occasionally disagreeing over trivial things but thats expected because we were working with Dan.

Our strengths were probably the ability to go ahead with ideas even though some of us didn't agree with them showing some integrity however we would often be divided by our ideas as to what the plot was to be about and who was going to be cast in our TV Drama. If we could improve anything it would probably to work better as a group in the future if we ever have to work together again and make sure that we are better prepared for filming when it comes to props and actors.
